DAY 02

roho ya selous

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in good time for your scheduled flight to Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s most pristine and remote safari destinations. Enjoy stunning aerial views of Tanzania’s varied landscapes as you fly south into the heart of the wilderness.

Upon landing at the airstrip inside the park, you will be warmly received by your safari guide and transferred in a 4×4 game-viewing vehicle to your camp. En route, begin your wildlife adventure with a scenic drive through the park – keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, and perhaps even predators along the way.

Arrive at your camp in time for a refreshing welcome drink and check-in, followed by lunch and some time to relax before your afternoon game drive.

Roho ya Selous
Surrender to a deeply immersive safari experience where nature surrounds you at every turn. Nestled on a secluded peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera, Roho ya Selous offers panoramic views of the waterways — alive with hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife — right from the comfort of your tent.

Set in the heart of Nyerere National Park’s prime game viewing region, formerly the renowned Selous Game Reserve, the camp places you in one of Africa’s largest and most untouched wildlife havens. This area is particularly famous for its thriving population of African wild dogs.

Roho ya Selous blends wild beauty with refined comfort. Spacious, thoughtfully designed tents open to 180-degree views, immersing you in the landscape while offering all the amenities of home. Just steps away lies a palm-lined tributary of the Rufiji River, where boating safaris and guided walking adventures elevate the safari experience beyond the ordinary.

Expect frequent sightings of lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, and more — all within arm’s reach of your wilderness retreat.

Game Drives & Optional Adventures

Discover the wild beauty of Nyerere National Park through expertly guided game drives that take you deep into some of Tanzania’s most diverse and wildlife-rich terrain. From open grasslands to riverine forests and wetland systems, each drive offers the chance to witness iconic predator-prey interactions, elephant herds gathering at waterholes, and possibly even elusive species like wild dogs or leopards in action.

With its rich ecosystem and sparse tourist traffic, game viewing here is unhurried and personal — no vehicle congestion, just raw wilderness.

For those craving more than the traditional safari, Nyerere delivers with thrilling boat safaris on the mighty Rufiji River. Drift past pods of hippo and basking crocodile, watching elephants come down to drink while vibrant birdlife flits overhead. For the adventurous, catch-and-release fishing in these legendary waters adds a meditative rhythm to the experience.

Each outing is led by seasoned naturalists who bring the landscape to life with their deep knowledge and intuitive tracking skills — making every game drive or boat journey as educational

DAY 04

jabali ridge

After a relaxed breakfast, we depart for Ruaha National Park, a breathtaking journey into one of Tanzania’s most spectacular and least-travelled wilderness areas. Spanning over 20,000 km² — larger than Jamaica, with room to fit in Luxembourg — Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park and a true stronghold for raw, untamed nature.

The drive offers changing landscapes that grow increasingly wild, culminating in the dramatic beauty of the Ruaha ecosystem: rugged escarpments, open plains dotted with ancient baobabs, and the life-giving Ruaha River winding through it all.

Renowned for hosting one of East Africa’s largest elephant populations, Ruaha is also a haven for greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope, and predators such as lion, leopard, and wild dog. Despite its size, the park sees fewer visitors than the northern circuit, offering a deeply exclusive and unspoiled safari experience.

We arrive at the lodge/camp in time for lunch and an afternoon at leisure before heading out on your first game drive in Ruaha. As dusk settles, listen for the calls of the wild and enjoy the peace that comes with being far from the busy safari trails — here, nature reigns.

Asilia’s Jabali Ridge sits atop a rocky kopje with sweeping views over Ruaha National Park, famed for its high concentration of lions. Nestled near the seasonal Mwagusi River, the lodge is ideally located in the heart of the park’s core game viewing area. Here, large herds of elephant and buffalo roam, often shadowed by resident lion prides. The surrounding wilderness also supports leopard, cheetah, wild dog, diverse antelope species, giraffe, and over 550 bird species.

Game Drives & Optional Adventures

Spend an exhilarating day exploring the vast wilderness of Ruaha, Tanzania’s largest and most dramatic national park. With its varied terrain—rocky hills, ancient baobab valleys, and seasonal rivers—Ruaha offers some of the most rewarding game viewing in East Africa.

Your expert guide will take you deep into the park’s remote regions, where wildlife sightings are rich and diverse. Expect encounters with large herds of elephant and buffalo, resident lion prides, leopard, cheetah, and the elusive wild dog. Ruaha is also home to rare species like sable and roan antelope, as well as over 570 species of birds—making it a dream for birdwatchers.

A picnic lunch is enjoyed in the bush, surrounded by the sounds of nature, before continuing your game drive through the afternoon. With few other vehicles around, Ruaha offers a truly wild, uncrowded, and immersive safari experience.

DAY 06

FAREWELL TO THE RUAHA – FLIGHT TO ARUSHA

After an early breakfast at your camp or lodge, we say goodbye to the rugged beauty and wildlife-rich plains of Ruaha National Park. You’ll be transferred to the nearby airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha, offering scenic aerial views over Tanzania’s central highlands and Great Rift Valley.

Upon arrival in Arusha, a representative will be waiting to assist you with your luggage and onward travel arrangements. Depending on your schedule, you may have time for lunch, shopping, or a brief rest before continuing to your next destination or catching your international flight home.
