After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi and begin your journey to the stunning Amboseli National Park, located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro near the Kenya–Tanzania border. The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours, passing through rural landscapes, traditional Maasai homesteads, and open savannahs—offering glimpses of Kenya’s diverse beauty along the way.

Amboseli National Park
Located in southern Kenya, Amboseli National Park is one of the country’s most celebrated conservation areas, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity. The park is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including four of the Big Five, alongside graceful zebras and a remarkable variety of birdlife thriving in its swamps and wetlands.
Amboseli is particularly famous for its unparalleled elephant encounters. Vast herds—sometimes over fifty strong—roam freely across the plains, offering visitors rare close-up views that are a dream for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Beyond its wildlife, Amboseli captivates with its authentic Maasai culture and the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers a truly unforgettable safari experience, where the beauty of nature and culture converge—making it a must-visit for those seeking the true magic of the Kenyan wilderness.

Game Viewing Experience
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives, a landscape of striking contrasts. Watch as herds of elephants cool off in the swamp waters, or spot the towering Maasai giraffe peeking through the treetops. The park’s birdlife is equally impressive, with over 420 recorded species, including 47 raptors.

A unique feature of Amboseli is its dry lake bed, which shimmers with mirages under the midday sun. In stark contrast, lush emerald-green swamps—fed by underground rivers from the melting snows of Mount Kilimanjaro—offer a lifeline to countless animals. These permanent water sources attract large concentrations of elephants, hippos, buffalo, zebras, and other plains game.

As the day ends, head to Observation Hill, a prehistoric site offering panoramic views. Here, the setting sun casts a golden glow over Kilimanjaro, creating one of the most iconic safari scenes in Africa.

Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the variety of species found in the park’s wetlands, including the Madagascar Squacco Heron, Black-winged Lapwing, Taveta Golden Weaver, Taita Falcon, and the Southern Banded Harrier Eagle. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a first-time visitor, Amboseli promises rich wildlife encounters in a truly dramatic setting.

DAY 04

lake naivasha sopa lodge

After breakfast, we depart Nairobi and journey northwest toward Lake Naivasha, traveling along the scenic Great Rift Valley escarpment. En route, enjoy stunning views of the valley’s dramatic landscapes—volcanic cones, escarpments, and expansive plains stretching toward the horizon.
On arrival at Lake Naivasha, you’ll notice its tranquil beauty and abundant wildlife. Despite having no visible outflow, Naivasha’s waters remain fresh—a geological mystery, especially when compared to the surrounding Rift Valley lakes, which are typically alkaline. This unique feature allows Naivasha to support an incredible diversity of life.
As one of Kenya’s largest freshwater lakes, Lake Naivasha draws a wide variety of wildlife, particularly birdlife, making it a true bird watcher’s paradise. Over 400 species have been recorded here, including fish eagles, pelicans, kingfishers, herons, and the vibrant lilac-breasted roller.
Optional afternoon activities may include:
A boat ride on the lake to see hippos and waterbirds up close
A guided nature walk on Crescent Island, where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes
Or simply relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere
Check in at your lodge in time for lunch or enjoy a packed picnic by the lake. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure or spent exploring, with dinner and overnight at your Naivasha lodge or camp.

LAKE NAIVASHA SOPA RESORT
Set along the tranquil Moi South Lake Road, Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort is a celebration of eco-conscious design and natural beauty. True to Sopa’s commitment to environmental stewardship, not a single tree was felled during the resort’s construction. Instead, the architecture was creatively adapted to the landscape, with the main public areas curving gracefully around ancient trees—blending harmoniously with the lush surroundings.
The resort offers a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Guests can enjoy a wide range of experiences including boat rides on the lake, guided nature walks, archery, romantic date nights, and tours of nearby flower farms. Whether you’re seeking a family getaway, a romantic escape, or a peaceful retreat into nature, Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort delivers eco-friendly luxury with a warm, welcoming touch.

DAY 05

tipilikwani mara camp

After an early breakfast at the lodge, depart Lake Naivasha and head southwest toward the iconic Masai Mara Game Reserve. The journey takes you through the bustling town of Narok, a key Maasai center, and past the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, including views of the extinct volcanoes Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa.
As you travel deeper into the Maasai heartland, the terrain opens into vast savannahs teeming with life. Arrive at your camp in the Masai Mara in time for lunch and check-in.
In the afternoon, we embark on our first game viewing drive across the sweeping plains of this world-renowned reserve. The Maasai Mara is a breathtaking landscape of open savannahs, meandering rivers, seasonal marshes, and patches of riverine forest—all teeming with life.
Covering 650 square kilometers, the reserve boasts one of the highest densities of wildlife anywhere in Africa. During the Great Migration season, up to a million wildebeest and large herds of zebra make their dramatic entrance from the neighboring Serengeti in Tanzania, offering an unforgettable wildlife spectacle.
The Maasai Mara is home to all of Africa’s iconic “Big Five” — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo — as well as a rich array of other species such as cheetah, jackal, eland, baboon, ostrich, and the elusive bat-eared fox. The Mara River and its tributaries are alive with crocodiles and pods of hippos, adding to the drama of the landscape.
With its remarkable biodiversity and ever-changing scenery, the Maasai Mara offers unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. Expect an awe-inspiring introduction to this wild and vibrant ecosystem.
TIPILIKWANI MARA CAMP
Set along the tranquil banks of the Talek River, Tipilikwani Mara Camp offers a seamless blend of comfort, elegance, and authentic safari charm, creating an ideal setting to immerse yourself in the beauty of the African wilderness.
With sweeping views over the open plains of the Masai Mara, the camp is perfectly positioned to witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles—the Great Migration. From June to October, over a million wildebeest and zebras thunder across the savannah, providing an unforgettable front-row experience for guests seeking both adventure and serenity.

Full Days in the Maasai Mara – Game Drives & Optional Adventures
Spend a thrilling day exploring the world-famous Maasai Mara, beginning with an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active. For those seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience, an optional hot air balloon safari is available at an additional cost. Soar silently above the plains at sunrise, witnessing scenes of zebras galloping below, lions stalking prey, and wildebeest herds on the move. Upon landing, enjoy a champagne breakfast served in the bush — a magical start to the day.

The Maasai Mara is celebrated for its dense wildlife population, particularly its healthy numbers of lions, including the magnificent black-maned males. Large herds of elephants roam freely here, along with elusive leopards, sleek cheetahs, and — if luck is on your side — the endangered rhino.
All members of the iconic “Big Five” are residents of this exceptional ecosystem, and sightings of African buffalo are almost guaranteed. The Mara’s vast open plains are also teeming with plains game — giraffes, zebras, topis, gazelles — and an astonishing diversity of birdlife.
The reserve’s rivers are alive with crocodiles and hippos, ever-present in the muddy waters. These landscapes also form the dramatic stage for the annual Great Migration, one of the most breathtaking wildlife spectacles on Earth.
